The Lovemakers are an electropop/New Wave band from Oakland, California. The band was formed in the spring of 2002 by Scott Blonde (guitar, vocals) and Lisa Light (vocals, bass) who are the two core members. Light and Blonde met in 2002 via Blonde's manager, who Light was dating at the time. Shortly afterward Light left her boyfriend, and she began dating Blonde and joined his band Applesaucer. They were forced out of the band, reportedly for making out during practice. Afterward they formed their own band naming themselves The Lovemakers after the Japanese sexploitation film The Weird Lovemakers. They joined with Jason Proctor on keyboards to form the initial lineup.

Head Like a Kite is Dave Einmo, joined live by drummer Trent Moorman, and in the studio by a revolving cast of musical friends. Marrying a love of progressive electronic production and instrumental wizardry with a spot-on knack for pop-songcraft, Head Like A Kite debuted in 2006 with the Pattern 25 release, Random Portraits of the Home Movie, a universally praised album built around samples from family Super-8 home movies from the 70s. The success of the album led to tours of the US and Japan (with projector in tow) and an appearance on MTV2's "On The Rise." (See reviews from London Times, URB, Remix, LA Weekly, Magnet, Alternatiave Press, etc. below.) Head Like A Kite continues to climb with a move to LA-based electronic label Mush for the summer 2008 release, There Is Loud Laughter Everywhere, an album that builds on HLAK's found sound meets electronic rock framework with unquestionable expertise. The result seamlessly ties epic pop overtones to sunny bliptronic beats, sounding like an indie band remixed by Entroducing era DJ Shadow and LCD Soundsystem.

anarbor_interviewAnarbor is an American pop-rock band from Phoenix, Arizona. It was formed in 2003 when guitarist Mike Kitlas (Rhythm Guitar) decided to form a band with fellow junior high school students Slade Echeverria (vocals) and Greg Garrity (drums). The final piece of the band came into place when Adam Juwig (guitar) joined the group. Initially known as "Troop 101", the band later changed their name to "Anarbor". k.flay (aka Kristine Flaherty) was born and raised in the soulful state of Illinois, where she spent her days snacking on hot dogs, jamming out to Parliament-Funkadelic on her family’s record player, obsessively reading Roald Dahl books, and rocking Air Jordans a size too big.

At the age of 18, k.flay ventured to California to study Pavlovian dogs and Marxist theory at Stanford University.  While in college, k.flay discovered the power of midi interfaces and began writing, producing, and performing the unique blend of hip hop and indie rock that has come to characterize her sound.  Hailed in URB Magazine’s “Next 100” issue as a rap girl with “a bad-ass style that comes straight from a feral and natural talent,” k.flay has been making her mark on the music world, giving fans shins splints on both sides of the Mississippi.
